Swallows Rest is a self-catering holiday cottage, situated on an environmentally friendly farm, in the very peaceful location of Allendale. Hadrian's wall and associated roman forts are a short drive away. The cottage is a perfect base for walking and exploring the magnificent scenery of Northumberland, including the fells, bastle houses and the river East Allen. The wildlife is varied including curlews, lapwings, snipe and hedgehogs some of which can be seen from the cottage. Swallows Rest is also perfectly situated for a stopover on the way to Scotland.

There is a well stocked local shop, that is open 6 days a week. Also there is a lovely Indian takeaway/ restaurant and 4 coffee shops/cafes in Allendale. There are plenty of other places to eat in the local area.
