Enjoy this self contained, comfortable cottage all on one level where you will arrive to a treat or two to refresh yourselves after your journey. Guests have commented on how tastefully decorated the Annexe is with a calm colour palette to aid your relaxation. Set in the gorgeous garden of Granny's Apple Lodge in the beautiful Forest of Dean, you can enjoy forest walks or cycle rides from the doorstep, returning to relax on your patio or in front of the cosy log burner. The garden wildlife can be viewed from the warmth of the conservatory or the super comfy bed dressed with quality cotton bed linen. Sit back and listen to the birds whilst you unwind on the comfy chairs indoors or on the sun loungers outside. Guests are encouraged to explore the garden paths and beyond the gate onto the old disused railway.
Hello there. Following retirement from the teaching profession my dream of owning a holiday let has finally come true. I have spent many enjoyable holidays with both friends and family in self catering accommodation and wanted to create a space in which I would be happy to spend time. I am also an enthusiastic gardener and have created an environment in which, I hope, you will be happy to relax. My husband and I love to explore and since moving to this property have felt we are on one long holiday (when we haven't been working to renovate and refurbish our home)! There is so much to enjoy in this area and we will enjoy recommending experiences to you to make the most of your holiday. If you're happy then we are happy.
As we live on site we will be around to greet you, hand over the keys and answer any questions you may have.
The patio and grass area in front of The Annexe @ Granny's Apple Lodge is for your personal use but the garden beyond that is shared with us, our friends and family. Please feel free to explore the old railway line beyond the top gate.
As well as the delightful Forest of Dean tracks and trails to explore on foot or by bike there many other local attractions which include: Symmonds Yat, Westbury Gardens (National Trust), Tintern Abbey, Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves, Perrygrove Railway, Norchard Steam Railway and Museum, Lydney Harbour, TaurusCrafts, Dean Heritage Centre, Gloucester Cathedral and Museums, Chepstow Castle. There are 16 golf courses within 45 minutes and plenty of activities such as canoeing or boat trips on the Wye, high jinx at Go Ape in the Forest and don't forget the Severn Bore. Gloucester, Chepstow, Monmouth and Ross on Wye to name but a few are all within easy reach for exploring.
The village of Blakeney is a ten minute walk and has a Fish and Chip shop as well as a post office and a well stocked general store. There are two pubs within a ten minute walk both serving food. There are many local eateries which can be recommended by your hosts who have taken delight in sampling as many as possible (on your behalf of course!)
The Forest is beautiful all year round, each season bringing its own delights.
