The cabin is the perfect escape from the busyness and stress of modern life, set in an idyllic location at the bottom of a private track off the North York Moors.
In winter the cabin is a cosy home to cuddle up in front of the wood burning stove and read a book, listen to music, watch the stars or catch the sun rising over the valley. For extra ‘hygge’ we now also have a sauna available to book for a separate fee.
Everyone is invited, the cabin is a safe and welcoming space for all.
The cabin is beautifully constructed by a local craftsman and provides everything you need for a comfortable stay, with a fully operational and equipped kitchen and bathroom. The cabin may provide a break from modern life, with no wifi and limited phone reception, but it's not without its luxuries, with Dusk Egyptian cotton bedding and towels, A cosy wood burning stove, a record player and selection of our favourite records, private seating area with a table and chairs and outside wood burning stove to while away the evenings.
The cabin sleeps two adults, and up to two children with two sleeping spaces: downstairs on the comfortable double Futon Company sofa bed, and upstairs in the mezzanine, with its double mattress and magical views. The mezzanine level bed is truly magical, but a steep climb, so for children and those with limited mobility we can make up the sofa bed downstairs. Due to the cabin's very rural location, with sheep in the surrounding fields, we are unable to have dogs to stay.
I'm a clinical psychologist living in the beautiful North York moors with my husband James, 8 year old son, dog and cat.
When we can, we will greet you at the cabin when you arrive, and will be available over the phone throughout your stay. There is a key box outside the cabin if you arrive when we are not in.
The Cabin is set in the grounds of our home Shamabla which is home to me, my husband James, 9 year old son and friendly cocker spaniel Cookie. It's likely you'll see and hear(!) our son playing in the garden, and Cookie may well come down to the the cabin to say hello- if you don't like dogs, please tell us and we'll keep Cookie out the way!
We are situated at the bottom of a private track which weaves down through the North York Moors off the Scarborough Road. It's a wonderful private location with just our home and two others down the track. Parking for the cabin is at the bottom of the track, on a gravelled area tucked in on the left hand side. We'd ask guests to park up against the fence to ensure the turning circle for deliveries and access for our neighbour remains accessible.
Guests are welcome to wander up the garden to the meadow beyond where we keep our small flock of ex-battery chickens and have two donkeys staying for their winter holidays. You're also welcome to wander down through our wood, examining the bubbling beck to reach the track below, which will connect you to many beautiful walks. You can walk down to Robin Hoods Bay in about 40min, to Boggle Hole beach in 50min, or explore the moors directly above the cabin. We would ask guests to please not walk through the field below the cabin as this is owned by a neighbour and is private with no footpath access.
