Built in 1740, Captain's House is a Grade II listed townhouse, with many Georgian architectural features, both inside and out
The house has opened it's door to welcome guests, in many different hospitable ways, for many years as a long term Rented House. We have records from a rent book, showing that Captain John Bonstow paid the sum of four pounds and fifteen shilling at the start of his tenancy in March 1918.
Captain Bonstow, was famed for having the first TV in the area, and local people gathered to watch in the front parlour. We thank his Grandson for sharing his story with us.
During the 23 years of Rob and Sheila's ownership The Captain's House has been a Guest House, B&B, and Simply B room only stays. Now another chapter begins as a Beautiful Holiday Home.
We absolutely love every historical, splendid, quirky, thing about Captain's House. We sincerely hope that you choose to stay, and enjoy a lovely, step back in time, perfect holiday.
