The DESIGN
‘The Clearing’ has good design at its heart: set in beautiful woodland, and picturesque farmland our sustainable eco-home was designed to feel secluded and private. Its solar powered underfloor heating and generous windows make for a warm and light-filled interior. The Clearing's design also incorporates cleverly sectioned spaces allowing guests to gather and entertain, or to be alone to retire and relax.
The ART
The Clearing is also a hidden gallery of original artwork by artist and co-owner Donna Louise Irvine:
'I love the idea that our guests return to a home where the paintings are placed with the same care and attention that is usually attributed to an exhibition.'
Paintings are not available to be viewed anywhere else and are exclusively offered for the private viewing of guests of The Clearing. Price list (and prose and poetry that accompany the artworks) are available on request.

I'm a farmer who loves where I live. I was born, work, and have now had my own family here, so I know the local area really well and am very happy to give you pointers on where to go and what to do.
That said, I think a good host should give their guests plenty of space to enjoy their stay and so you will only see or hear from me if you need me.
I take pride in answering messages from guests promptly, so if you have any questions, need more information or assistance with your stay, then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Our closest town is Huntly which has as its centre-piece a beautiful avenue that leads to Huntly Castle (one of Scotland's most impressive late medieval buildings). Huntly has a golf course, swimming pool, two convenient supermarkets, places to eat, and a newly built cinema, cafe, and community hub in the Square.
Further afield (but all within easy driving distance) you'll find the area bursts with castles, picturesque coastlines, quaint historic villages, antiquities, golf courses, fishing, distilleries, galleries, children’s activity centres, glorious walks, bike trails, skiing and much more besides on the figurative doorstep.
The Clearing borders Moray which boasts more of the same as Aberdeenshire (plus more distilleries if you can believe it).
