Having lived on the island for a number of years I would like to share this wonderful place with you all.
The Drey is situated in a quiet tree lined residential road in Sandown which is part of the Isle of Wight (IOW) Biospere Reserve designated by UNESCO. The islands Blue Flag Beach is a 7 mins walk with lots of beautiful coastal and country walks on the doorstep. Plenty of restaurants and bars are on the beachfront. There is limited parking roadside but additional parking is a two minute walk to the train station carpark, this is never full. There are 3 car Ferries that serve the island; Portsmouth to Fishbourne (Wightlink), a 25 minute drive to us, Southampton to East Cowes (Redfunnel), a 27 minute drive, Lymington to Yarmouth (Wightlink) with a 38 minute drive. Surprisingly, we are only 3 hours away from Central London on public transport. The IOW train links with both the hovercraft (10min crossing) and foot passenger Catamaran (20mins) from Portsmouth. If you fancy leaving the car at home and exploring the island Sandown is linked to the rest of the island by a great bus service. For those that are more energetic, Nunwell Street forms part of the Red Squirrel Bike Trail offering 32 miles of mostly traffic free cycling, secure, weatherproof, bike shelter.
