Philip and Jenny moved into the farmhouse with our children Ben, Leo and Anna and took over running the farm some 12 years ago, renovating the house then setting about tackling the farmyard. We have planted hedges and woodland trees to improve the natural environment and as a family we are involved in and support many community events and initiatives in the village. We very much enjoy showing and sharing the beautiful countryside of Essex to our guests and are very happy to give recommendations for places to visit, where to eat and local walks.

North Essex still remains rich in history and natural beauty, containing a higher concentration of listed buildings than anywhere else in the country. We believe strongly in preserving our wonderfully diverse landscape beloved of Constable and there Great Bardfield Artists Group. Great Dunmow the local town, together with Thaxted, Saffron Walden and Thaxted offer great markets, local shops and experiences. With wonderful places to visit such as Audley End, Beth Chatto Gardens, RHS Wisley, Henry Moore Foundation and Hatfield Forest in easy reach there is plenty to keep you busy. If working in the area, the Fieldbarns are the ideal place to retreat to for peace and quiet and great Wifi! We are also fortunate to have some great places to eat such as Galvins Green Man in Howe Street, The Windmill at Chatham Green and our most local, the Dukes Head in Hatfield Broad Oak. Good cycling routes in the area and a network of footpaths on the doorstep.
