A beautifully decorated and designed bolthole in the heart of Sedbergh. Located in a charming weavers yard, just off the Main Street, surrounded by the stunning Howgill Fells. Within two minutes walk you are in the centre of the village with access to local pubs and restaurants, artisan shops with no need to get into the car.
The Folly is a Grade 2 Listed cottage, dated circa 1750 and is set over three floors. Given that I sadly think we are not accessible for wheel chair users, anyone infirm or those with small children. Entry is from The Folly alleyway into the ground level which has one bedroom with a king sized bed that is pushed against one wall, so access only from one side of the bed. The bathroom with shower, WC and separate bath is on this level. There is a staircase to the lower ground floor which has a king sized bed that can also separate to provide two 2ft 6 single beds. Another staircase upwards from the entrance level takes you to the living, kitchen and dining area.
We have one car parking permit that can be used in Joss Lane car park ( just off Main Street ) or the Loftus Hill car park. You can also park on Back Lane, adjacent to Lupton Field rugby pitch if you can find a space. The car parking permit should be on the kitchen table in the cottage. Please, please ensure that you don’t take it home by accident-it causes great problems with the parish council if we have to get a replacement.
The Folly is compact and bijoux, and also set on three floors with two sets of stairs. We don’t have any stair gates or highchairs, or children’s tableware so probably not practical for small children or toddlers. We do have a travel cot for small babies.
We are dog owners ourselves and are happy to accommodate one dog only simply as the cottage is very compact. There would not be space to put a dog crate anywhere or nowhere to shut a dog in the evening if you go out. Dogs are absolutely not accepted on the beds or the furniture.
I live in Yorkshire but am available to help with any queries if you have any. My son has just started at Sedbergh school and we thought a bolt hole in Sedbergh would be something that we could enjoy as a family.
Sedbergh is a beautiful town in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The Howgills wrap around the town and can be seen and ascended upon from almost every spot in the village.
