No smoking. Please note: No children, including babes in arms.. The Left Luggage Office is a stargazer’s paradise. This elegantly appointed apartment is situated on what was once Falstone Station, on the line that linked England to Scotland. It is situated in the pretty village of Falstone, inside the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park.
Most Britains live within densely populated areas where light pollution allows only a handful of stars to be seen through an orange glow. Here at The Left Luggage Office you can feast your eyes up to thousands of stars. Among the highlights is the Milky Way. It’s something that the vast majority of us will never see, but within the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park you can view it in all its glory. Use binoculars and you can marvel at its arms stretching out on both sides of its bright central core. This wonder of the universe is 2.5 million light years away! Other astronomical phenomena you can look out for during your stay include the Aurora Borealis (more commonly known as the Northern Lights), and the occasional spectacular meteor shower. These shooting stars are grains of dust from the tails of comets burning up when they enter the Earth’s atmosphere. To continue your stargazing odyssey there is the Kielder Observatory.
