Pete and I moved to Cornwall to get away from it all and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this stunning county. Following the renovation of The Lodge, which we opened in March 2018, we have welcomed many guests from all around the UK and many from as far away as Australia.
Cornwall is a beautiful county where guests will take home many happy memories of their stay. The Lodge is really peaceful with stunning countryside views and is close to many local attractions including The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project, plus there are numerous stunning beaches and harbours close by.
The village of Polgooth, a former mining village, is within easy walking distance and is located approximately three miles from Mevagissey. Here you will find the village shop/Post Office offering a great selection of locally sourced groceries including freshly baked bread and pasties, chilled food, fruit and veg and newspapers. The Polgooth Inn is a great old Cornish pub, which serves home cooked food and local ales. During the summer months there is live music on Sunday nights and during the winter you can enjoy a drink around the open coal fires.
Many beaches are only a short drive away including Porthpean, a lovely sandy beach where you can take the coastal path to the historic Georgian port of Charlestown, a popular venue for TV filming, including the most recent, Poldark. Here you can tour the shipwreck museum, see the rigger ships and enjoy the cafes, shops and bars. Pentewan Sands, another large sandy beach, is also close by and here you can walk or cycle the off road trail which leads to the beach or The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
The Roseland Peninsula is an area of outstanding natural beauty and has many secret coves, hidden beaches and secluded fishing harbours.
