The Nest is a bright and comfortable Annexe attached to my own home. Also known as Needingworth Annexe, it has all the little touches to make your stay complete. With it's own private entrance to the side of the property it has a bedroom with a king-sized bed, a living area with a sofa, a dining area, a TV and a kitchenette with microwave. There is an additional table / desk in the living area. A shower room with a large walk-in shower completes the accommodation. The environment is very important to me, and I make every effort to minimise the carbon footprint of hosting. I have solar panels and an air source heat pump, compost my own food waste, and use re-fillable products where possible. Comfort, however, is never compromised.
As a keen nature lover and amateur photographer, I love to photograph life on the River Great Ouse. The walls of the annexe show the local wildlife, and most photos have been taken from my little boat on the river. I also play golf at the club just down the road. I have been hosting in total for around 10 years - having started the Annexe accommodation in Needingworth in 2020.
Needingworth is a small village close to the market town of St Ives. It has a small shop with post office and a village pub which serves good food. Riverside pubs are about a mile away as are supermarkets. St Ives has plenty of restaurants and is famous for the bridge with a chapel. Being close to the River Great Ouse, there are many lovely walks nearby. St Ives also has a free park and ride with frequent buses into Cambridge along the guided busway.
