Ailsa and Dean love to host at the Old Station as we have always loved St Andrews and all the surrounding areas, being able to recommend little hidden gems to our guests to enjoy is always fulfilling. Happy to discuss the great shops, restaurants and what is on in the local theatre. Having raised our own children we understand the need for activities, football, table tennis pool or just some board games to keep them amused while parents take a well earned rest. We enjoy seeing our guests sitting in the garden with a glass of wine watching their children running around having fun as that has always been our favourite time...if the children are happy, we are happy.

Every room in our converted Victorian Railway station has its own theme, transport yourself to Africa, Asia or just lie back in our Garden room and listen to the Scottish birds twittering or sit on your patio with a cup of tea or something stronger. Why not stay in a converted train carriage with your own lounge area and balcony overlooking the pond and rail bridge or the grounds of the main house towards the old platform. Breakfast is served in the conservatory that was once the platrorm of the station, this time instead of watching trains whizz past, enjoy the tranquility of our various birds and our 2 red squirrels who love to come and show off their acrobatics in the morning. A view of the sea is possible depending on what crop is in the adjacent field and you can see over to Broughty Ferry, Arbroath and beyond to the Angus hills. We have table tennis and a golf practice area in the grounds and if the weathers a bit nippy snooker/pool table in our library which is an extension of our lounge area with an open log fire. On exiting the Old Station to head down the hill into St Andrews you have the most amazing view from St Andrews bay all the way out to Tentsmuir beach and beyond.

St Andrews has many exciting places to visit, it's not all about the golf although we have 11 golf courses within a 10 minute drive, from a 9 hole course to the iconic Old Course. St Andrews university is over 600 years old and there has been many historic moments occured here. The castle and cathedral ruins will take you back to the 17th century and you can climb St Rules tower and look over the whole town from above or crawl through some secret passage ways. We have 2 beautiful beaches right in town, the West sands is adjacent to the Old Course and is a fabulous walk along to the Eden Estuary, we have the botanic gardens and Craigton park with everything imaginable to keep your children busy. The secret Bunker is only 4 miles from us and was built for heads of state to go to if needed during the cold war, from the outside it looks just like a little farmhouse but underneath is a different story. One of the main attractions of the area is our gorgeous fishing villages with their picturesque harbours, art shops and cafe swith great views. Edinburgh city centre is a 1 hour train journey down the East coast, over the iconic Forth Rail Bridge.
