We are Danny & Dolores Driscoll owners of the Southbank Townhouse.
We are a family run business who took over the Southbank Townhouse end of June 2021, after many years working in the Hospitality and the Education sector.
We are originally from London but moved to Witney, Oxfordshire, back in 1997 to raise our family and for work commitments. As much as we loved Witney, we felt after the uncertainty we all experienced during lockdown, now was the time to move on and do something we have wanted to do for a long time.
We want your stay at Southbank to be as comfortable as possible, and whether you are spending 10 days or one night with us, we aim to guarantee the best full service for every guest.

If you’re looking for traditional charm and a harbourside locale with an abundance of good food and cultural hotspots, you'll find a lot to love at Southbank Townhouse. We are a large, fully-licenced villa with a carefully-maintained original Victorian style and adult-only ethos, although we do allow children over the age of 12.
Our 12 rooms come in both vintage and modern styles, characterised by the many local points of interest, with historical artefacts also dotted around the establishment. Each bedroom has it’s own style and character, with some rooms having additional dressing rooms or lounges.
Southbank Townhouse is located in central Torquay, a short walk from many local highlights including the stunning Torre Abbey and The Riviera Center. The Princess Theatre is just 10 minutes’ walk from us, you may even find yourself having breakfast with our many performer guests, theatre staff, and fellow attendees.
For those looking to relax, Torbay's largest beach, harbour and town gardens are all within 10-20 minute walk. Here you can have a glass of wine surrounded by sub-tropical trees on our charming sun-trap terrace, and watch the pleasant crowds trickle by. Our licensed bar offers a range of local bottled ales ciders, lagers, wines, and popular spirits. Teas, coffees and soft drinks are, of course, also available.
For those solely here on business, free Wi-Fi is available throughout, along with a cosy relaxing library for working in. The Riviera International Conference Centre is also just five minutes' walk from our door.
To our knowledge, Southbank Townhouse was built in 1850 and was originally two houses: No.15 & No.17. On our first floor landing you will see a bunch of the original master keys from those houses.
We believe that high standards and a good quality product at a reasonable price is the essence to a good night’s stay at our guesthouse. Our breakfasts are freshly cooked using local produce where possible, we strive to meet your dietry needs.
