We recommend keeping your eyes focused on the skies as the stunning Northern Lights have been making appearances throughout the Winter months.
The Loch is the perfect place to spot Seals, Herons and many other amazing creatures. We have had the luxury of spotting Basking Sharks on the route to Girvan which is a road we advise to take due to the views and endless opportunities to spot Whales and Sharks in the Summer months (Don't worry they are harmless)
Hello and Welcome! I am a passionate traveler who loves discovering new destinations and spending time in nature. Adventures often take us on staycations across the beautiful UK, exploring its stunning landscapes and rich history. A favorite activity is visiting castles, soaking up the stories and charm they offer.
When I am exploring, I work as a Digital Marketing Campaign Manager, bringing creativity and expertise to my projects. I look forward to sharing my love for travel and exploration with you, ensuring your stay is comfortable and filled with wonderful memories.
Stranraer is a lovely seaside town just an 8 minute drive (4.5 miles) from The Wee Sprout. There are some great shops such as Tesco, Farm foods, Argos, Peacocks and Morrisons as-well as pubs, restaurants and takeaways. We would highly recommend the fish and chips from the Starfish restaurant. A local Kingdom Hall is in the town centre.
Free parking at a long stay car park. The P&O ferries Port is a 16 minute drive (9.6 miles) and has regular crossings to Larne (Ireland). The Stena Ferry Port is a 20 minute drive (11 miles) with regular crossings to Belfast (Ireland). Stranraer Railway station has a direct link with Glasgow central station. A bus service runs directly outside of the park which is a 408 stagecoach bus which you can “wave down”. Leaves from Tesco in Stranraer.
We highly recommend taking a trip to Culzean Castle, Mull of Galloway Light house and Logan Botanical Gardens. The Garden Centre is within walking distance of The Wee Sprout with a lovely Cafe and Gift shop. Port Patrick is a stunning little Sea Side village which is worth exploring along with local hikes in that area. Check out the Kitchen Coos take a safari to be up close to the amazing Highland Coos.
