The Winning Post is one of three newly built holiday cottages on the site and sleeps up to six adults comfortably. Situated in a tranquil, rural location approximately 1.5 miles from the historic town of Bruton in Somerset, it is ideally situated for families or couples wanting to explore the beautiful countryside and visit the many local attractions. Furnished to a high standard, The Winning Post has two good sized double bedrooms (one with a king size bed and en suite shower room and one with two single beds which can be linked to form a super king on request). There is also a family bathroom upstairs. The open plan living space downstairs provides a well equipped kitchen and dining area and a comfortable lounge area. There is a deluxe sofa bed here, providing a comfortable sleeping place for two further guests or for those who are unable to negotiate the stairs. There is also a wet room located on the ground floor making the property accessible for wheelchair users. The cottage benefits from a balcony with views of the surrounding countryside which maybe accessed from either bedroom and a private patio area. There is also a large, enclosed shared garden area.
My husband, Chris, and I (Rachel) have two grown up children and have lived here for over 20 years. We run a small, well equipped, stable yard for our own competition horses which our daughter competes and so are able to accommodate visiting equines here if required and subject to appropriate arrangements. Being animal lovers, we are also happy to welcome up to two, small well behaved dogs into each of our larger holiday cottages but expect them to stay downstairs and to keep off the soft furnishings. Pets must not be left in the cottages alone. There is a large enclosed garden area and direct access to plenty of countryside walks. We are blessed to live is such a beautiful location and are pleased to be able to share it with our visitors.
The Winning Post is in a rural location with direct access to an array of footpaths and bridlepaths and all commercial amenities a short drive away. Local attractions include, but are by no means limited to, the Royal Bath and West showground, Hauser and Wirth Gallery, Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Wincanton racecourse, Stourhead House and gardens, Longleat House and safari park, Haynes Motor Museum and Kilver Court designer shopping village. The picturesque cities of Wells Glastonbury and Bath are close by too.
There are mainline train stations nearby in Bruton and Castle Cary and a local bus service. Taxis are available by arrangement. The M4/M5 junction is approximately 50 minutes drive.
Local supermarkets offer a grocery home delivery service to the property.
