Visit Cockleshell / Coastal Cottage
Visit our website here: www.visitcockleshell.wales. Cockleshell is a coastal cottage nestled in Wales’ best kept secret. Set beneath an ancient castle overlooking the green farmlands, swirling sea and gleaming sands of the Towy Estuary and Carmarthen Bay. Cockleshell is an immaculately presented modern holiday cottage in the heart of Llansteffan. This beautiful family-friendly cottage enjoys all the benefits of a central yet peaceful location. The stylish interior is the perfect relaxing space for a rural retreat, allowing you a fantastically comfortable night's sleep after a day of exploring this largely undiscovered area and its natural and historic charms. The cottage boasts 4 beautifully laid-out bedrooms, including a master double with en-suite bathroom and walk-through wardrobe, a spacious double bedroom, a twin room with woodland views, and a small bedroom with crib and blackout blinds for the baby or toddler in your group. The main lounge offers a spacious and airy place to relax, with sunlight entering from windows on opposite sides. The bold and colourful seating are modern yet comfortable, and the room provides a creative space to plan adventures and wind down in the evening. The sleek kitchen and dining space has cool tones of grey and turquoise throughout and is a calm, clean, communal space. The large hob area and double wall oven provide for ample cooking and sturdy oak dining table with seats and bench allow the whole family to eat together. The utility space to the side of the property also comes in handy for storing sandy shoes. Enjoy Cockleshell all to yourself without any check in hassle. The property offers contactless entry meaning you don't need to be physically greeted to receive the keys.
We pride ourselves on making our guests experience the best we can and as luxurious as possible. We use genuine hi-grade cotton Egyptian sheets, luxury pillows, duvets and towels. You can expect a little hamper of locally sourced goodies on your arrival. Just a small part of our attention to detail and care for our guests.
Llansteffan is nestled beneath the walls of the imposing Norman castle, which commands impressive views across the village. These views take in the sandy beaches of Scott’s Bay, along the Towy Valley, across to Pendine, Worm’s Head on the Gower Peninsula and west towards Dylan Thomas’ Laugharne. Just a short walk from Cockleshell and you arrive on the beach. This is a wonderful, unspoiled sandy shore on the Towy estuary, perfect for sandcastles and birdwatching. Llansteffan is a quiet village located on a wide estuary, ideal for a relaxing waterside break. The nearby gastro-pub serves locally sourced food and the beer garden often hosts live music performed outdoors, it's perfect for a pint and a singalong. So too for Taylor's Tow Bar with spectacular views over Laugharne. The Village Store and Deli have great breakfast options and takeaway meals and the beach shop cafe serves up a delicious variety of ice creams and homemade cakes. Visitors can journey along the Wales Coast Path to Laugharne to see the Boathouse where poet Dylan Thomas lived. With strong family connections with Llansteffan, he visited regularly from the age of 4 right up until the day before he sailed for America. With a rich and colourful history, Carmarthen is the oldest town in Wales. One of Carmarthen’s most famous early residents was Merlin the Magician. The Welsh name for the town, Caerfyrddin, means Merlin’s Fort and many believe the town was named after King Arthurs wizard. Carmarthenshire stretches from Carmarthen Bay in the south to the western Beacons and Cambrian Mountains in the north, with wondrous gardens, awe-inspiring castles, Wales’ longest beaches, and market towns brimming with local produce and chic shopping.
