Welcome to The Wadham!
We’re Ian and Tracie, and we feel incredibly lucky to call this beautiful Georgian guesthouse our home. We took over in June 2021 to follow a long-held dream — to live by the sea and create a welcoming space where people can truly relax and feel looked after.
Before this, Ian spent 20 years transforming homes with his kitchen and bathroom business, and Tracie ran a nail salon for over 30 years. We both love creating beautiful spaces, but more than anything, we love people — sharing stories, laughter, and making new connections.
Weymouth stole our hearts with its history, harbour, and old-world charm. The Wadham is over 250 years old and full of character, and we feel proud to be part of its story. It’s more than just a place to stay — it’s a home, and we genuinely want our guests to feel that warmth the moment they arrive.
You’ll often find us out walking by the harbour, jiving in the kitchen to ’40s and ’50s tunes, or chatting with guests over a cuppa. Tracie’s the brave one who goes sea swimming and paddle boarding; Ian prefers dry land and a comfy seat!
We’ve poured so much love into every room, and we’re here to help you make the most of your time in Weymouth — whether that’s a romantic harbour stroll, a swim in the sea, or discovering the best local food and music.
After a day exploring, come back and unwind in comfort. The kettle’s on, the jukebox might be playing, and your room’s ready.
When you arrive, we’ll be here with a warm welcome — the kind that feels like a friendly hug. We’re always happy to stop for a chat, share a few local tips, or simply make you feel at ease. Whether you’re with us for one night or a week, we want you to leave feeling rested, cared for, and just a little bit lighter.
We’ve had four wonderful seasons here so far — and we’d love you to be part of the next one.

We’re Ian & Tracie, and we’re delighted to welcome you to our Georgian guesthouse in the heart of old Weymouth. Just a 3-minute stroll from the beach and moments from the working harbour, our home is perfectly placed for exploring, relaxing, and enjoying all Weymouth has to offer.
Built in 1765, The Wadham is a Grade II listed townhouse with five floors and many original features. It’s full of character, charm, and a genuine sense of warmth — a true home-from-home.
Each of our eight en-suite rooms is individually styled and thoughtfully equipped with everything you might need: TV, free Wi-Fi, USB ports, hairdryer, straighteners, fan, ironing board, fridge, hospitality tray, bottled water, luxury toiletries, and glasses for your pre-dinner drinks.
We offer breakfast as an optional extra, served in our dining room. You’re also welcome to explore the many wonderful local cafés and tea rooms nearby — perfect for brunch with a sea view.
Parking is limited, so please contact us before arrival for advice. Free overnight parking is available in council car parks from 6pm–8am.
As our building is over 250 years old, please let us know if you have mobility needs, and we’ll guide you to the most suitable room.
When we’re not welcoming guests, you’ll often find us dancing, jiving, or enjoying live music and great local food — we’re always happy to share recommendations!

Discover the Best of Weymouth — Just Steps from The Wadham
The Wadham is ideally located to enjoy everything this beautiful coastal town has to offer. Within minutes, you can be wandering the harbour, walking the beach, or sipping coffee with a sea view — all without needing your car.
Start with a stroll to Weymouth’s historic harbour, where you’ll find a fantastic mix of restaurants, wine bars, independent cafés, and cosy pubs. Sit and watch the boats come and go, or enjoy a glass of something chilled as the sun sets over the water — it’s one of our favourite ways to unwind.
For a touch of adventure, hop on a speed boat ride around the bay (you might even spot dolphins!) or enjoy a leisurely cruise to Portland aboard My Girl, a beautifully restored vessel with a heroic WW2 history.
If you're an early riser or a sea lover, there are some wonderful spots nearby for a morning swim, and we’re always happy to point you to the best sauna or beach yoga sessions — perfect for starting the day with calm and clarity.
Just around the corner, you’ll find the charming streets of old Weymouth with a lovely mix of boutique shops, galleries, and seaside curiosities. And of course, the award-winning beach is just a 3-minute stroll from our front door — ideal for a swim, a paddleboard, or simply a relaxed walk along the shoreline.
As the sun goes down, Weymouth comes alive with a relaxed nightlife. Enjoy cocktails and small plates along the esplanade, take in a show at the Pavilion Theatre, or soak up the live music drifting from harbour side bars, beach cafés, or a local pianist playing to the sunset.
We love helping guests make the most of their time here — from seafood favourites like The Crab House Café, Rockfish, and Les Enfants Terribles, to hidden gems like Oliveto, The Secret Garden, or Stone Pier Café. Just ask — we’re always happy to share our favourites.
