Kamihis Farm House Experience is a newly built house, built in the original traditional way, just like the old time hand-worked houses of the region. Each stone has the character and the love of the owner.Right away the visitor is feeling the soul of the mansion that perfectly harmonizes with the local element of the Cretan land. Stone, wood, earth. It is a truly ecological home not only because of the materials used in the building, but also in the way the visitor will experience his stay. No electricity and modern facilities!
It is located 3 kilometers from Zaros Village, at the foot of the mountain Curtes where archaeological finds have been found.
The water comes from the sources of the village Zaros that is awarded as the number one in the world.
Interior lighting is done with olive oil lamps, candles and oil lamps like the people used to do in the past.
Externally there is subtle illumination by using a photovoltaic system.
The shower is done with the bucket and the pot by heating the water on a gas stove so we consume less water and energy
We offer handmade olive oil soap as well as herbal massage oil
You can participate in our Kamihis farm activities (extra charge)
I am Michalis Papadovasilakis, a lover of the cretan tradition and the ecological way of life. The Cretans always knew how to survive using only what they needed. That is how they were the more long living people of the Mediteranean.
This is what I have always wanted for me and my family. To eat what i can grow in my fields, to create a handmade house with natural materials, to consume what i really need and not more. Respect to the natural resources, the water, the wood, respect to the plants and the wild birds and animals.
Kamihis Farm House Experience gives the chanse to every person who wants to feel how the people used to live in the crete of the last century. No electricity, no modern faucets.. Only oil lamps and candles, the moonlight, and the wonderful natural sounds. It was a dream that came true and i want to share it with people around the world who share the same philosophy.
