Welcome to Esplanade Apartments, a small and friendly apartment hotel located in the non-touristy quiet seaside village of Kalathas, just a short walk from the beach. We offer 13 spacious and comfortable apartments, ideal for couples, families, or solo travelers looking for a relaxed stay close to nature, yet with easy access to Chania’s old town and the beautiful sights of the Akrotiri peninsula. The name "Esplanade" carries a personal story. When my father moved to Montreal, Canada, he lived on a street called Esplanade. Years later, he built this hotel by the sea — and by coincidence, the word “esplanade” also means a walkway by the water in Spanish and French. It felt like the perfect connection between two parts of our family’s journey. People often tell us they love Esplanade Apartments not just for the beautiful surroundings, but also for the large, comfortable apartments and the welcoming vibe that combines the best of home and vacation. Each apartment is thoughtfully decorated with natural materials like stone and wood, earthy tones, and soft textures that create a calm and relaxing environment. We offer cleaning service 6 days a week and a reception where I’m always happy to assist. I try to learn each guest’s name and help with anything they might need — from booking taxis or car rentals, to giving tips for local tavernas, hidden beaches, or day trips around the island. My goal is to help you enjoy your time in Chania like a local, not just a visitor. Kalathas Beach is only a 10-minute walk away, and we’re just 15 minutes by car from Chania and 10 minutes drive from the airport. It’s a convenient base for exploring the region while enjoying the quiet charm of a seaside neighborhood. Kalathas is a peaceful seaside village on the Akrotiri Peninsula, just 15 minutes by car from the center of Chania and only 10 minutes from the airport. Known for its soft sandy beach and shallow, crystal-clear waters, Kalathas is ideal for families, couples, and travelers seeking a quiet escape close to the city. The beach is well organized with sunbeds and umbrellas, and just a few minutes away you’ll find local tavernas serving delicious traditional Cretan food. The area offers the calm of the countryside with easy access to nearby attractions. Guests can explore the historic monasteries of Agia Triada and Gouverneto, take scenic walks, or simply enjoy the sea view and the peaceful setting. Several beautiful beaches are just a short drive from Kalathas. Seitan Limania, about 25 minutes away, is a stunning hidden cove with turquoise water surrounded by cliffs. Around 20 minutes away is Stavros Beach, a calm bay with golden sand and shallow waters, made famous by the film “Zorba the Greek.” Marathi Beach is also about 20 minutes away and offers two quiet sandy bays, clear water, and a few seaside restaurants. Loutraki Beach, just 18 minutes from Kalathas, is a small, sheltered beach with calm waters, ideal for families and those looking to unwind in a peaceful setting.
