A holiday by the sea - literally! The Aegean Sea in all its moods will be part of your day - from your morning cuppa to the glass of crisp white at sunset in all its panoramic glory - because it is steps away from your balcony. A wide sandy beach offering watersports is metres away and there is a traditional taverna on site. Nights, too, are full of silky sea air - after a relaxing day, salty whispers will lull you to sleep.
The centre of Kokkini is a 5 minute walk from Flokos. On the main road, you will find several supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, clothes and souvenir shops, bars, restaurants, and cafeterias. The Kontra Flokos restaurant, rated third in Airbnb's top 10 things to do in Kokkini Hani, is right next door! Kokkini is well served by local buses, which are cheap and frequent. To the east lies the tourist hotspots of Hersonissos, Stalis and Malia, and further to Agios Nikolaos and beyond. To the west, a 20-minute bus journey, lies Heraklion, the capital city, and the Minoan palace of Knossos . Of course, Crete is the largest Greek island, with wonders to discover wherever you turn - be they ancient monuments, mountain gorges, isolated coves with sheltered beaches, modern cities, picturesque villages, pulsing bars, or small shady local tavernas.
