Villa Jolimax (name created by the family JO-hn, LI-tsa, MA-kis, X-enia) was designed and built by John Kourtoglou, a prominent Athenian Architect and Civil Engineer. Coming from an aristocrat family of Constantinople, John was one of the few Civil Engineers with his diploma from the Polytechnic University of Athens, and had a brilliant career, having built numerous monuments and apartment houses all over Athens and suburbs. John was married to Litsa, an Athenian beauty much younger than him and they had two children, Prodromos, also a Civil Engineer, and myself, Polyxeni (Xenia), a market research and communications entrepreneur. I inherited the villa when my dear father John passed away, realizing his dream to build a swimming pool in the garden; with all the new renovation and decoration, Villa Jolimax is a true jewel in Nerantza! I have an only daughter, Katia Paschou, a successful, highly talented soprano, with a brilliant career at the National Opera House as well as a vast number of recitals in Europe and New York. Katia has repeatedly performed recitals and plays at Villa Jolimax, where all our friends and neighbors have enjoyed her divine voice and performance.
