This memorable small place is anything but ordinary. Our family run estate has the beauty of being surrounded by nature, we have cats, dogs, chickens, goats and parakeets. All of these can been seen and encountered whilst staying with us. We do ask guests not to feed the cats or encourage them into the property. Our uniquely adapted horse box is set within its own private traditional greek style courtyard, it contains everything that a couple or a single person could require to enjoy the wonderful island of Crete. The HorseBox can accommodate one child, for this to happen we replace the inside sofa with either a cot or temporary bed. The Horse Box gives you access to our pool and spaciously landscaped gardens which have been carefully chosen for their beautiful flowers and foliage, allowing for a private experience, mature trees providing shade from the sun. The Horse Box is one of four of our accommodations which are situated on the spacious grounds of Crete-retreat. Our emerald green lawns give you the opportunity to lay back and sunbath around the pool, or play a few lawn games. The pool is a massive 15 meters by 10 meters, perfect for lounging around in, or for getting in some serious lengths. The Horse Box has a fully equipped kitchen with a washing machine. Space to sit inside and eat, or enjoy the outside deck and traditional Greek courtyard area with gas BBQ for alfresco dinning. We are located 6km from Chania with easy access via car or public transport The port of Souda is 2km away. Please note that if booking our Horse Box during the Months of March, November and December electricity is not included in the nightly price. It is metered and charged at the end of your stay.

We came out to Crete in 2020 to join my wife’s father and mother in running their 3 villas for holiday makers. We have now taken over the running of these three villas and have added the HorseBox to our grounds. We love meeting and greeting new people and broadening our cultural experiences.

The village of Tsikalaria is located at the foot of the mountain Malaxa, and has the feel of a traditional Greek village. There are two local mini markets a chemist and a coffee shop. There is also a traditional taverna serving food and drink. Meltemaki beach is 2km away it is a beautiful sandy beach popular with the locals. There is a fish taverna, perfect for experience an authentic Mediterranean seafood.
