Southeastern of Agios Nikolaos is the picturesque little fishing village of Agios Dimitrios, in the place of ancient Pefno, with its rocky island. In Pefno, according to Mythology, were born in an egg, the Dioscuri, Castoras and Polydefkis were demigods, patrons of the sailors and brothers of beautiful Hellen. This egg was the result of Jupiter's love, transformed into a swan, and the beautiful Leda, daughter of Glafkos, who, in order to avoid him, had been transformed into a goose.
