We would like to share a few words about the home, hoping it becomes a cherished part of your holiday experience. This is not a purpose-built rental filled with standardized furnishings from multinational chains. Rather, it is our family home—a place full of soul and history. It has been lived in by our grandparents and great-grandparents, who were artisans, sailors, and sponge divers. Many of our own childhood memories and summer holidays were also spent here. Starting this year, we have decided to share this special place with guests for part of the year, while continuing to enjoy it ourselves during our own holidays on the island. The house dates back to the second half of the 18th century. Given Hydra’s rugged, rocky terrain, part of the building is anchored directly into the natural rock, which has been beautifully incorporated into the interior spaces. The furniture consists of unique family heirlooms, many from the early 20th century. Naturally, they show signs of use and the passage of time, which we believe adds to their character. Throughout the house and in its display cabinets, you will also find small objects of sentimental value that have been lovingly preserved over generations. We hope that this living, authentic retreat offers you moments of peace and joy, and becomes a part of your most memorable holiday experiences.
