In the past, Nerezine was connected to Osor, mostly because of its arable land from which the then population was supplied. Kula, the monastery of Sv. Francis and the church built by the Osor patrician Kolan Draža, give Nerezine a characteristic identity. With the development of seafaring and shipbuilding, a city port and shipyard are being built in Nerezine. They were discovered as a tourist destination in the last century, mostly because of the Osoršćica mountain with many hiking paths, which delights its visitors. Nerezine used to have up to 2,000 inhabitants, and today there are only 400. Today's Osor is a city-museum with about eighty inhabitants, but at every step, there are the remains of ancient important past. The acoustic space of the cathedral serves in the summer months as a hall of a traditional music event called "Osor Music Evenings". They have been held continuously since 1976, from mid-July to mid-August and are certainly an event not to be missed.
