The Architect's House is a characterful, self-contained, village house in the historic village of Pitve, which overlooks the beautiful port of Jelsa 2 kilometres away. The house has been completely restored to a high standard using traditional methods and careful attention to original details. Unusually spacious, it comprises 3 levels, with 2 living areas, 2 bathrooms, and a bedroom spanning the entire top floor. There is are sea and mountain views from its balcony, and it has its own private vine-covered dining courtyard and barbecue area which has views across the sea to the island of Brac and the mainland. This villa is for those who wish to be close enough to from all of the harbour amenities and beaches just a few minutes away, but also secluded from noisy crowds! The village of Pitve has one restaurant, which is known to be one of the best on the island - so you can just stroll around the corner for dinner, and if you are lucky, catch some really beautiful local folk music occasionally played by the owner and his friends. And if you like wine, this is the perfect place to relax and indulge in a good bottle of red!

We "discovered" Hvar about 15 years ago whilst searching for a longed-for Mediterranean retreat. Once we saw Pitve, we fell in love with its beauty and its great location. Since then, we have restored two homes in the village, each time bringing to life again the beautiful stone work, and adding features such as Italian floor and wall tiles. At the moment, this is our "second home", and every time we arrive, we wonder how we could have stayed away! Although we have been renting The Architect's House out for some time now, we have only recently started to advertise on this website, so we welcome all enquiries, and would be glad to have a chat with you if you have any questions!

The village of Pitve is about 2 kilometres from the port of Jelsa, where there is great swimming and fantastic restaurants and harbour-side bars. There you can rent, cars, scooters and bicycles (and cycle along the seaside to other villages) or rent a boat and discover many private coves. In the evening, stroll around the shops or listen to local musical entertainment. We can give you lots of tips about what to see and do! Pitve itself overlooks the sea and the vineyards on the mountainside, and at night it has the best star-gazing in Europe! Pitve is a historic, traffic-free village, away from the hustle and bustle, and it is wonderful to return to at the end of the day and barbecue freshly caught fish at home or enjoy its incredibly lovely restaurant - dine al fresco and just stroll back to The Architect's House!
