!!! Social distancing to the fullest !!! Until the middle of 20th century, Rosuglia used to be a vibrant village in the center of Tramuntana forest. Then, looking for a better life, many inhabitants of Tramuntana firstly moved to the mainland and then emigrated all over the world. Only the oldest and weakest remained. When they passed, the village passed with them. In 2017 your hosts decided to buy and renovate the ruin of what used to be Palazzo di Rosuglia, the house of nobleman who owned the land cultivated by the villagers. The villa was completely rebuilt with the original stone of the collapsed house, furnished in the antique style and equipped with all modern utensils. If history is not enough, the fact that that nobody lives in the 2km radius should be. The peace, the smell of forest, the views and the complete isolation of this property is hard to explain in words. You should come and experience the sunset while chilling in the pool or the hot tub. Only that will make your vacation worthwhile. And there is so much more to be amazed by… Don't forget, the 6km gravel road that leads to the villa doesn't go well with sport suspension cars! A normal car is ok, SUV is preferred!

Your hosts, Soledad and Sergio Malovac, are hospitality veterans, owning a restaurant in the center of City of Cres for over 30 years. Several years ago they decided to hand over the restaurant business to their children and rebuild this villa so they can stay in the hospitality industry but with much lower stress levels. The northern part of the Island of Cres, Tramuntana, covers 20% of the island. It is an area with sparse settlements and many ruins, witnessing the emigration that happened here after the beginning of the 20th century. Tramuntana forest with its vast karst pastures, represents an exceptional value of natural heritage. The vegetation of this area mostly constitutes of tall oaks, hornbeam and chestnuts, many more than hundred years old and soaring up more than 35 meters. As there are no paved roads going through it, it is a dreamland for hikers, mountain bikers and all nature lovers in general. To help you find your way, local enthusiasts have marked 7 picturesque tourist trails that predominately follow 2.000 years old Roman made cobblestone paved ox paths. Next to them you will find 7 limestone labyrinths and 21 stone statues featuring poetry of a local 19th century poet. In addition to tourist trails, there are further 7 hiking and 3 mountain bike trails. Look up and you might see a majestic Griffon Vulture roaming the sky! The eastern cliffs of Tramuntana represent one of the last European settling grounds of this largest of all birds in Croatia. Come, explore and be amazed!
