Welcome to Guest House Magyarlukafa in the sunny and warm south-east of Hungary.
Guest House Magyarlukafa has been completely renovated in 2019 and offers a lot of space and comfort, even to somewhat larger groups. The house is located on large upsloping grounds (6,100 m²) which provide panoramic views of the valley and the Zselic nature protection area.
The guest house comprises 3 spacious bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a living area with open kitchen. Their is a large sun terrace (55 m²) next to the house, a covered terrace (10 m²) next to the barn and another covered terrace at the top of the garden.
The flat-screen television is connected to the Internet (Netflix subscription allowing for two screens). A router, in conjunction with a set of four power line adapters, offers Internet connection anywhere in the house or in the garden, using WIFI or a network cable, as desired.
Besides the bed(s) every one of the large bedrooms (> 20 m²) contains a desk with chair and a couch. If necessary the couch can be transformed into a double bed. This way the rooms each offer sleeping for six - six - four guests (at most).
The windows are equipped with sliding insect screens.
We live in the village (75 m from the Guest House) and will readily assist you in any way.
Magyarlukafa is a small village, situated in beautiful natural surroundings (Zselic), far from mass tourism. There are numerous hiking possibilities in the surroundings of the village on trails largely unexplored by tourists. We’ll be happy to take you on guided walks.
Thanks to the natural richness of the region there will always be interesting things to see. The quiet hiker has an almost 100 % chance to observe wild animals such as red deer, roe deer and fox...
Magyarlukafa boasts more then 70 butterflies species. (Look on the Internet for “Butterflies of Magyarlukafa”). Some other interesting, rare animals that are readily seen in or near the village are bee-eater, golden oriole, white-tailed eagle, raven, yellow-bellied toad, European pond turtle, stag beetle, alpine longhorn beetle, common glow-worm, praying mantis.
There is another nature activity which doesn't even require walking in the natural surroundings: stargazing.
Because there's little light pollution in the Zselic, it was the first area in Europe to be recognized as a dark-sky preserve. The nighttime skies can be absolutely impressive. At the top of the garden you'll be able to admire the entire Milky Way.
