Clifden is known as Connemara's capital. Full of colourful and friendly family owned and run shops and restaurants. Full of locally produced foods and crafts. For those who love the outdoors there's Diamond Hill to climb, Marconi walk (5km) detailing the important radio station which existed there and Alcock & Brown's 1st transatlantic flight which crash-landed near the town. Nearby you can visit Kylemore Abbey and walled gardens with breathtaking views or, weather permitting, head to one of the many glorious and secluded beaches.
