Bill's Barns – Apartment 1 is a beautifully charming one-bedroom downstairs apartment located a short 4-minute drive from Kenmare; a heritage town connecting the renowned Ring of Kerry and the idyllic Ring of Beara.
Renovations began on Bill’s Barns in August 2022 and were completed in the autumn of 2023. A not inconsequential undertaking, we are proud to have renovated our family’s barns and to offer it as the perfect property in which to explore the picturesque Kerry countryside. Generations of our family have worked and farmed the land upon which Bill’s Barn proudly stands. The lower level of the property was used to house cattle, pigs, turkeys and ducks and the upper level was used as a winter storage for apples and hay. The upper level was accessed via an exterior stone staircase to the side of the barn and a large window now occupies the original door space. It is important to note that the property stands on a working cattle and sheep farm. With this in mind, we kindly ask that you respect the boundary of the property and that you do not access the farmyard.
Some of the original features of the old barn can be seen in both the interior and exterior stonework of the apartment. A chain originally used to tie animals to hangs in the living area and a bar, used for the same purpose, sits under the bedroom window. During the redevelopment of Bill’s Barns, an experienced local stonemason sandblasted the stonework of the entire property to revive the original stonework.
