Caherhurley Cabin is a quiet sanctuary on the East Clare walkway, where nature, history, and healing converge. The cosy well-equipped cabin offers a peaceful retreat for reflection and renewal. It is situated by an orchard with a view out to the Clare hills. We have a pond at the bottom of our front field. Our water is from our own well and we have solar panels to power our electricity. We make our own bread and have fabulous jams available too!
We lived in the cabin while renovating our 19th century farmhouse and would like to share the beauty of our surroundings with you. Sadhbh speaks French, Irish, and a bit of Japanese. Marcus is a potter and makes pottery from the local clay and plants. We have a three-legged rescue dog called Prince.
The cabin is located on the East Clare walkway in the Slieve Bearnagh mountain range so is ideal for hikers. Our local village is Tuamgraney - home to Ireland's oldest church in continuous use (rebuilt by Brian Boru the High King of Ireland). We have a lovely pub, a chocolate factory and a woollen mill! The kitchen in the cabin was made in Tuamgraney. Scariff is next to Tuamgraney and has a great health food shop, fruit shop, grocery shop, a local butchers/fishmongers, a chemist, GP and vet - everything you need in a country town! Local places to eat include Nuala's in Tuamgraney, The Piper's Inn in Ogonnelloe and the vegetarian Co-Op café in Scarriff. The nearest supermarkets are in the towns of Killaloe and Ennis. We are one hour away from the Atlantic coast of the Wild Atlantic Way and yet also close to the cities of Limerick and Galway. We are approximately 45 minutes from Shannon airport.
