These values provide, not just the invisible pillars on which their efforts stand, but also serve as daily inspirations, made visible in a hundred little details. What began as a small hotel catering to the local Port’s visitors in 1957, has evolved into a large experiment in a form of tourism that’s immersive, yet respectful of nature and local ethos. Over the years, with 15 unique holiday experiences and 4 wellbeing and curative retreats created across Southern India, this boutique chain discovered themselves through nature and community. Learnt, that less is more. That luxury lies in simplicity. And that reality is more enchanting than fantasy. CGH Earth offers guests a string of experiences that are pure, unexpected and inspiring. Beachgate Bungalows features a charming villa in a private compound, located around the corner from Fort Kochi Beach and a few minutes walk from St Francis Church and the Chinese fishing nets, two most important features synonymous with Fort Kochi. Each villa features three spacious and comfortable bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, three open terraces, a fully equipped modern kitchen, a dining room, a family room with TV and free WiFi, a private pool, alfresco dining with a barbeque and a beautiful tropical garden. Each villa has its own private swimming pool with walk out access from the dining room and is surrounded by a beautiful garden and trees which are as old as the bungalows themselves. The bungalow was designed in the fifties by the old English architectural firm of Pryne, Abbot and Davis for the erstwhile Brooke Bond & Co, an old tea plantation company who wanted their executives to continue to experience the feel of the plantations while they were on mainland. Beachgate bungalow displays top architectural quality with Art Deco elements merged with modern accents. Local additions add to its warmth.

As dawn turns to day, guests can start their day with a hearty breakfast of their choice and set off to explore the historic Fort Cochin neighborhood on bicycles, which are available on request. Fort Cochin is the oldest European settlement in India. Fort Cochin's amalgam of colonial architecture provides a unique window into India's colonial past where various colonial powers struggled to take control of India's spice trade that was centered in Fort Cochin. St. Francis Church is the first European Church that was built in India. The History of this Church reflects the colonial struggle of European powers in India from the 15th to 20th centuries, starting with the Portuguese, then the Dutch and finally the English. A walk through Fort Kochi's charming tree-lined lanes is akin to experiencing a living colonial museum, with art galleries, community halls and schools, cafes, boutique hotels and restaurants all housed in painstakingly restored heritage colonial properties. As day turns to dusk, a visit to the local beach is a must (only 200 mtrs away from the bungalows), to enjoy a spectacular tropical sunset.
