Blabjorg Resort

Blabjorg opened in 2011, with only the guesthouse rooms and one indoor hot tub. Ever since then more service has been added and spa facilities increased. In 2017 our restaurant, Frystiklefinn, was opened and we believe that it added a great value to Blabjorg as it is today. Starting out as a small guesthouse, Blabjorg Guesthouse, and now a resort where we want our guests to enjoy their time in Borgarfjordur eystri and we recommend staying at least 2 nights - we are very happy with where we are today. Blabjorg Resort started off as a family business in 2011 and still is - Team Blabjorg is working happy and hard to always get better for our guests and visitors.

Blábjörg Resort is located in the idyllic fishing village of Bakkagerði in Borgarfjörður eystri. Surrounded by beautiful mountains and unique nature, a variety of hiking trails and outdoor activities can be found here both during the summer and winter seasons. Rising out of the village is the mystical Elf City, Álfaborg, from where the elves watch over the town and its visitors. Hafnarhólmi, the puffin colony, is buzzing with bird life from early April to the middle of August and is unique to experience. At Blábjörg, we have a variety of options available for your stay. Blábjörg features a guesthouse with shared facilities, deluxe hotel rooms with private facilities, luxury apartments, a restaurant, and a spa. Frystiklefinn, our restaurant, puts great effort into including fresh local ingredients in all of our dishes. Musterið Spa offers a variety of treatments, both for your body and spirit - available for an additional cost. Our unique baths, beer baths and sea weed baths are a must to try. We also have our own brewery & distillery where we brew our own craft beer and also craft liquour, Gin and the original Icelandic moonshine, called Landi. Our guesthouse offers 11 small but cozy rooms with 3 shared bathrooms, in addition to the guesthouse we have 9 deluxe double rooms all with private bathrooms, balconies, and picturesque views. A total of 4 apartments; 2 studio apartments with sea view, a 2-bedroom apartment, and a 3-bedroom apartment.

Our favorite place is Hafnarholmi, puffin colony, which is only a few minute's drive from Blabjorg or a total of 5 km from the village. There you can find Puffins and other sea birds. The Puffin is our favorite bird, so majestic but yet so strange :) We also like Alfaborg, in English Elf-City, where the elves of Borgarfjordur live. It is only about a 5-minute walking distance from Blabjorg. From the top, you have a wonderful view of the village and the fjord. Then there is Lindarbakki our old turf house, a beautiful old turf building that has been kept in good shape despite old age. It is now a museum open to guests to visit. This is the hiker´s paradise and multiple well marked hiking routes in the area. Other activities are available like: mountain bike rental, boat trips...
