Finnstaðir

Sigurður Hlíðar Jakobsson and Helga Guðrún Sturlaugsdóttir, usually Helga and Siggi, are the farmers and your hosts at Finnsstaðir. Helga is a pharmacy technician by trade, but a host and a horsewoman by passion. Siggi is a mechanic and a jack-of-all-trades. He speaks Icelandic and Horse interchangeably but is more about translating words into action. When you drive down to the farmyard, you will most likely encounter a warm and cheerful hostess. That would be Helga, all prepared to accommodate your wants and needs.

Located 1.9 mi from Egilsstaðir, Finnsstaðir horse ranch features accommodation with a patio and free WiFi. The house consists of 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (toilet and sink only) and 1 shower room (shower only), a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, lounge and a laundry room. Right outside, there is a patio with a hot tub. Horse riding tours and a petting zoo at the farm.

Finnsstaðir is located in the center of East Iceland which makes it an ideal station for day trips to the Eastfjords, the fishing villages by the coast, the waterfalls Hengifoss and Fardagafoss, Hallormsstadaskógur National Forest, Vök Baths etc. For hikers, there are plenty of interesting and diverse hiking paths in the vicinity at all difficulty levels. The town of Egilsstaðir is in a 5 minute driving distance where you find supermarkets, gas stations, pharmacy, health care center, swimming pool, restaurants, tourist information, gift shops, clothing stores, art gallery and bars.
