After a few years that we rented a vacation house in Borgo di Gaiole, we fell in love with the region. This is the reason why we have bought an apartment in the Borgo. To enjoy others with the experience we have, we started to rent out our vacation house.
Historically, Gaiole is one of the capitals of the Chianti region, famous for its amazing scenery of vineyards and olive groves. The Borgo is in the heart of the Chianti region, home to some of the best vineyards in Italy. The region is proud of its traditional cuisine, which is loved the world over. A number of medieval castles that produce their own wine, such as Castello di Brolio and Castelo Meleto, are within a 10-15 minute drive. The majority of the vineyards and olive farms sell their products direct to the public, and organise guided tours and wine tasting sessions.
What is the exact reason that Forbes places Gaiole in the number one position? According to Gay Gillen of travel consultancy Brownell, “Chianti has everything in terms of mountains, vineyards, wineries, and walking tours. There is also the opportunity for horse-riding, hiking or tennis, and the food is delicious.” Apart from the fact that the countryside is beautifull, and that a tranquil, rural lifestyle prevails, it also differs greatly from other villages.
