Casa Mario dei Pini is a spacious two storey house accommodating 6 people in 3 bedrooms.
It is located in Viareggio, the summer resort renowned for its beaches and night life on the Northern Tuscany coastline, 20 km from Pisa and Lucca and 100 km from Florence.
It has 2 bathrooms (1 with bath), 2 lounges and a nice little patio-garden for summer barbecues and “al fresco” dinners.
Placed on a quiet street within walking distance of the main facilities, including the railway station and an important bus stop, it provides the ideal base to explore and enjoy Tuscany up to the Cinque Terre, Firenze, Pisa, Lucca, San Gimignano, Volterra, Siena and the less known inland treasures of historical villages and small towns.
The majestic beauty of the Apuane Alps mountains and the Mediterranean feel of the Migliarino-San Rossore coastal park, are just a stone's throw away.
Whether you want to relax on the Viareggio beach or explore culture, food or nature, we provide the perfect base for getting to know beautiful Tuscany.
Casa Mario dei Pini is the house where my family has lived for generations, and Mario was in fact the name of my father to whom this project of hospitality is dedicated. Its layout is typical of the Viareggio town and it is thus called “Casa Viareggina”.
It was supposed to become the house of my own family but life brought me elsewhere, specifically in Bristol (UK) where I currently live and work as a professional gardener after having been an IT researcher, a dance teacher and a group facilitator.
I personally take care of the relationship with the guests via internet and telephone, while Luciana and Maia will receive and take care of your stay once you will be there. Enrico is also available as a driver to take you around if you need transport (for an additional fee).
I have been living in this house until I was 43 and I am so pleased to make it now available to other people who can enjoy the dear places where I spent my infancy, youth and early adulthood. I will let you know my best picks for places to visit and things to do at any time of the year. You will be close to some of the most stunning places of Italy!
I look forward to hearing from you. Massimo
The house is placed in a traditional Italian neighbourhood, with buildings that rarely go beyond two storeys height. The vast majority of the people living on the road were born there and their family of origin already lived there before them.
The elders have seen me growing up and will certainly look at you as “Massimo’s guests”. I would not rule out the possibility that someone will approach you to tell stories about my past and the family's… I hope they will portray me in a good light :-)
It is a relatively quiet area, since the small road is just a secondary one with no main traffic.
Some tiny arty jewel towns like Camaiore and Pietrasanta can be reached by local bus or train. Lucca and Pisa are just 20 minutes away by train. Florence is slightly more than 1 hour by train. Siena and San Gimignano and the “Cinque Terre” coastline in Liguria, are other popular day trips. You are half an hour by car from the outstanding beauty of the Apuane Alps. These mountains are a treasure trove of natural beauty and local folklore and cannot be missed if you like mountains, local history and heritage. The coastal park of Massaciuccoli-San Rossore complete the natural environment.
