In these apartments the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart performed on April 6, NDCCVII (Luigi del Buono. Anecdotal study by Jarro on unpublished documents) with a concert for fortepiano and violin in the cultural salon of the Arcadian poet Corilla Olimpica (MDCCXXV-MDCCC), accompanied by the young violinist Thomas Linley. It was his first Italian Grand Tour, which he made under the guidance of his father Leopold, the latter eager to show his son's genius to the great Italian Courts, including Florence. This cultural salon of Corilla Olimpica, a very famous Arcadian improviser, was frequented by all the artistic personalities, and not only, those who visited Florence in those years, from Count Orlov to Napoleon Bonaparte, who wanted the marble plaque that still stands on the door of the building, in memory of the poet. Corilla was also celebrated as a symbol of romanticism, freedom, and Italianness by Madame De Staël in her novel “Corinne ou l’Italie”. Corilla was Court Poet of the Tsarina of Russia and of the Grand Duke of Tuscany during her Florentine period of about thirty years and was crowned Poet in Campidoglio (Rome), where only Petrarca and Perfetti received such an honor. The Pope always supported her. Corilla lived in the entire palace, given to her for use by Counts Martelli, who remained owners until MCMXI when they sold it to our family.
For this fascinating history, which we wish to preserve, we have renovated the building, both internally and externally, preserving all the historical characteristics of the period, the furniture, the floors, the colors, and the decorations of the walls have been, where possible, restored and highlighted, to give back to these environments the charm of eighteenth-century Florence. However, we have inserted every kind of comfort, from the elevator to the air conditioning, from the wireless to the LED television screens, to offer our guests an experience that is both comfortable and historical.
Welcome to the apartments of "Corilla Olimpica Palace" and "Sale di Mozart". In the beating heart of Florence. For this reason and for the history of the building we are proud of the work done to restore the structure. A branch of our family has lived in Florence since at least the 15th century. I am a retired naturalist biologist and currently a painter, with my son, we take care of the management of these two apartments of 110 and 90 square meters, located on the 4th and 3rd floors of the building, whose history fascinated us first.
You are guests of a unique building for its history and location, the apartments overlook the Duomo of Santa Maria del Fiore and, on the 4th floor, also the Medici Chapels, 100m from Piazza del Duomo. All the Florentine attractions, artistic or culinary, are around you, reachable with very short walks. The photos shown on the Booking site are taken from the windows of the apartments.
