wadi rum cave camp
Jordan’s Wadi Rum is one of the most beautiful deserts in the world. It is filled with unbelievable rose sandstone mountains (‘Jebels’), canyons and dunes. Wadi Rum itself was made famous by the exploits of Lawrence of Arabia during World World I, later becoming the setting for the film of the same name. With its many peaks and variety walks that offer endless trekking and climbing possibilities, Wadi Rum is now acknowledged as one of the world’s foremost desert climbing and hiking areas. It is truly a magical landscape for your adventure and your soul. Wadi Rum has been inhabited by many human cultures since prehistoric times, with many cultures–including the Nabateans, who left their mark in the form of rock paintings, graffiti, and temples. In the West, Wadi Rum may be best known for its connection with British officer T. E. Lawrence, who passed through several times during the Arab Revolt of 1917–18. In the 1980s one of the rock formations in Wadi Rum was named “The Seven Pillars of Wisdom” after Lawrence’s book penned in the aftermath of the war, though the ‘Seven Pillars’ referred to in the book have no connection with Rum.
Our camp is ideally located in the Wadi Rum Protected Area, about 12km from Wadi Rum Village. Our camp is nearby to several of the most famous sites in Wadi Rum, including Barragh Canyon, Burdah Rock Arch, and Lawrence's House. Our camp is the located deeper in the desert than all other camps for tourists. From here you can enjoy the beautiful sunset and enjoy a pleasant and comfortable evening. Our camp has ten tents and a shared bathroom and shower facility. Each night we serve a traditional Bedouin meal, buffet style, in a large tent where the guides and tourists all eat together. After dinner, guests usually gather around our camp fire before retiring to their tents for a comfortable night's sleep. If you would prefer to sleep outside, beneath the stars, just ask and we can make this experience happen for you.
