Narashino no Sato Gyokusui is a 13-room hot-spring inn located in Oku-Atagawa.
It has its own hot spring and two gardens.
Our concept is not only to view nature, but also to place yourself in nature and relax.
Room:Time spent relaxing, experiencing the blessings of nature with all five senses. Our 13 guest rooms, decorated in a Japanese modern style, express that ideal with various furnishings and a free-flowing hot spring bath.Embraced by scenery that changes with each season, the birdsong, the scent of grasses wafting on the breeze, and the star-filled night sky, you can experience the softness of the natural surroundings without even venturing outside.
Onsen:The blessings of the land flow in freely and naturally, direct from the source spring. Time spent soaking in the hot waters, enjoying those blessings. The skills of the yumori, or hot springs manager, who keeps the approximately 90°C source spring waters of the inn’s private source spring at a comfortable temperature. A quest for affinity between hot spring, skin, and cold water.
Garden: Time spent relaxing, feeling the breath of nature. Two gardens, each with a different style. The traditional Japanese garden, Hagoromo, which is adorned in new finery with each season. The bamboo garden, Hidamari, where dappled sunlight filters through a virgin bamboo forest. Instead of just gazing out at nature, surrender yourself to it, body and soul.
Cuisine:Time spent relishing with all five senses the blessings of nature that only the Izu region can offer. Our quest, which began with the inn’s foundation a century ago, continues to this day. Our chefs highlight the true flavors of the ingredients and exercise ingenuity with the tableware and styling of the food. A once-in-a-lifetime encounter of seasonal flavors, only on that day in that moment on each plate, in each bowl. Enjoy our cuisine together with the smiles on the faces of your dining companions.
My name is Kumiko, the fifth Wakaokami of Gyokusui. Gyokusui was established in 1914 in Izu-Atagawa. Since our establishment in 1914, we have been operating our ryokan with a commitment to three things.
The first is temperature control through Yumori.
Yumori is a craftsman who controls the hot spring water. The temperature of a person's skin can vary from hot to warm just by one degree Celsius. In addition, the optimum temperature varies depending on the weather and temperature. In this day, many facilities manage their hot springs by machine. However, we calculate the condition of the hot spring, the temperature, and the weather, and manually manage the optimum temperature of the hot spring for our guests on any given day.
Second, the cuisine is a feast for the eyes and the tongue.
The “tongue” means using the freshest ingredients from Izu and the skill of the cook to deliver the best flavor. The "eye" means to enjoy the food in ways other than just the taste, by paying attention to the dishes and the way they are served.
Thirdly, we want our guests to enjoy not only the inns, but also the culture and nature of the area.
As a long-established business, we have an obligation not only to prosper ourselves but also to enhance the local community. For our guests, the time spent outside of their stay is part of their journey. We also strive to provide our guests with a wealth of information on sightseeing and other activities in the surrounding area so that they can enjoy the area before check-in and after check-out.
