My name is Daniel and I first came to Kyoto from the U.S.A. in 2006. I fell in love with Japan and have been here ever since. I've settled down here and I have three boys that keep me busy. I think Kyoto is a special place, and I love to talk with guests about special events, nightlife and sightseeing spots that aren't as well known. Please ask me anything!

This is a lovely vacation home in Kyoto that's only a 6 minute walk from JR Nishioji station, which is only one stop away from Kyoto station. The inside has been been completely renovated. Two of the three rooms upstairs are Japanese style rooms, so guests can really get the feeling of staying in Japan. The house has everything you will need during your stay, including cutlery, pots and pans, sanitary kits, and a TV with DVDs that kids can enjoy. The house has heating and cooling. NishiojiKujo bus stop is only 1 minute away and Nishiojieki bus stop is only a 4 minute walk away. There is also free parking in front of the house, perfect for large groups that are renting a car. There are many buses that stop close to the house, and you can take these buses to places like the Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji), Kyoto station, or Umekoji park. I highly recommend Umekoji park for families. Not only is there a great playground for kids, but the Kyoto Aquarium and Kyoto Railway Museum are also there. It is only a 17 minute bus ride or 30 minute walk away. A huge shopping mall, called Aeon mall, is only a 5 minute walk away. You can buy almost anything here, such as food, clothing, souvenirs, and electronics. There are also many restaurants and a food court. Of course, there are convenience stores and restaurants nearby. There is a ramen shop right around the corner! I know you will enjoy this beautiful private home that is in a very central and convenient location.
A world heritage site, called To-ji temple, is also less than a 20 minute walk away. It's a beautiful 5 story pagoda building that is a must see.
There is a Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) shop next door. The chef of this shop is the 4th generation of a long-established store of meat shops that lasts three generations. They serve Japanese beef and a large variety of other foods and drinks.
Our staff speaks English, Japanese and Korean. We are long time residents of the area and are happy to share what we know.
