Your host, Sameera Gamage, was born and raised in the Galle/Hikkaduwa community and has a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm about the area.

Timeless, yet undeniably contemporary, Nisala’s three Guest Suites embody the bold forms and humble materials typical of Sri Lankan design, and each is built according to time-honored traditions with an eye toward present-day environmental responsibility. The two Standard Suites, Bamboo and Coconut, are identical in layout, while the Nisala Suite is larger and more luxurious. Thick, earth-toned walls, dramatic use of glass and cool, waxed concrete floors contrast with warm woods and crisp, white linens to create havens of understated elegance. Delightful details and spatial surprises are everywhere. With private tile-lined, infinity-edge plunge pools as focal points, each Suite has four distinct components. Facing the pool is a spacious, covered outdoor dining and lounge area furnished with table and chairs, ceiling fan, and a double-wide daybed for relaxing, reading, or simply dozing in the sun. The interior sleeping space contains a king-size bed with integral poured concrete side tables, a writing desk, mini-fridge, and a display shelf housing both safe box and glassware. In addition to an indoor bath/dressing area, each Suite boasts a private walled garden with outdoor shower.

But of course no trip to Sri Lanka would be complete without time spent at the beach, and Hikkaduwa boasts one of the best in the country. Just a ten to fifteen minute walk or five-minute bike or tuk-tuk ride from Nisala, lies a spectacular stretch of golden sand that stretches for miles. And the town of Hikkaduwa itself, with its laid-back charm and abundant shops and beach restaurants also makes for a great visit.
