THE NEIGHBORHOOD
The Red Coconut Villa is ideally located just 100 meters from a beautiful, relatively quiet stretch of beach. This section of the beach was Sri Lanka’s first tourist hotspot back in the 1960s, adding a touch of nostalgia to your visit. It’s perfect for serene, uninterrupted walks along the shore.
The beach area features various beach bars and restaurants, some of which offer free sunbeds, as well as playgrounds, local street food stalls, juice bars, and small shops for daily needs. During the off-season, the sea may be rough, but from December to April, it’s turquoise most of the time, enhancing the area’s charm.
Our neighborhood offers a range of amenities within walking distance, including Ayurveda massage options, scooter rentals, and local shops for essentials. We’re happy to provide recommendations for local dining spots, bars, and places to swim. There are also many lovely beaches further south that can be easily reached by tuk-tuk.
For those looking to explore beyond the immediate area, we can help organize day trips to nearby attractions such as Hikkaduwa, Galle, and other interesting destinations. Additionally, larger banks and stores, temples, water sports providers, waterfalls, and train stations are just a short bus or tuk-tuk ride away.
