After some time the library was closed, Pagulbis was given to grandchilds of merried sisters. For a while the Pagulbis was abandoned until 2003. April 14 The farmstead was acquired by businessman Kazimieras Jakutis. In order to revive the homestead for a new life, but fearing to ruin authentic buildings, the new Pagulbio host appealed to professional designers and architects. Later, at the invitation of his friend poet Alfas Pakėnas, Kazimieras Jakutis began organizing poetry festivals in Pagulbis, a tradition that lasted for 10 years - until 2016.
In 2018, Pagulbio homestead is revived and today it is the home of light, family coziness, culture, and tranquility, opening the door not only for travelers with a passion for authenticity, event organizers who cherish national heritage, but also for artists looking for unconventional spaces.
The huge farmstead, on a total of 3.3 acres, has six authentic and newly constructed buildings.

The History of the Pagulbis
Mykolas and Antanina Maželiai with 6 children - 2 sons and 4 daughters - 20th c. pr. settled near Pagulbis Lake. There are stories that when creating the Pagulbis homestead, the little children of Maželiai worked so much that they did not even go to sleep. In this way the family accumulated 70 acres of land with buildings. The two sisters Natalija and Juozapota get married. The remaining sisters and brothers decided not to marry in order to keep the Pagulbis homestead in one hand and the property not to be carried away.
Changing times, in 1948, some of of family members were deported to Siberia, and others were hiding in. After the privatization of Maželiai property, an elementary school was established here. Later, as the number of children in the neighborhood dropped, the school closed but the library remained.
