WE’RE SO HAPPY TO WELCOME YOU TO OUR HOME!
All we ask is that you treat the space with the same care and respect you would your own.
We’ve put a lot of love into creating a cozy and comfortable place for our guests, and your kindness helps keep it that way for everyone. Thanks for being thoughtful — we really appreciate it!
A QUICK NOTE ABOUT HOT WATER:
The water is heated by an electric boiler. To help save energy, we kindly ask guests to turn off the boiler at night or when it's not needed, and switch it back on when necessary. It heats up fairly quickly, and this small step really helps us keep things eco-friendly. Thanks so much for your understanding!
Roja is a picturesque fishing village located on the stunning northern coast of Latvia, where the Roja River meets the Gulf of Riga. The village is steeped in history, with its origins tracing back to ancient times when it was populated by the Liv people, and it has been mentioned in historical records as early as 1387. Over the centuries, Roja has developed a strong maritime heritage, becoming an important port and trade center, as well as a significant hub for shipbuilding and navigation. By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the area was bustling with shipyards and saw the construction of more than 200 impressive sailboats.
Today, Roja enchants visitors with its harmonious blend of historical charm and modern comforts. The wide, sandy beaches and beautiful dunes are perfect for tranquil walks and sunbathing, while fishing continues to play a central role in village life. The harbor is still active and is among the largest in Latvia. Visitors can experience the authentic spirit of a Latvian fishing village by exploring the Roja Sea Fishing Museum, which brings to life centuries of seafaring traditions and the daily lives of fishermen and shipbuilders. Here, guests can discover sailors’ knot-tying techniques and learn about the region’s celebrated nautical past.
Roja is also known for its vibrant community events and cultural festivals, including the Summer Film Festival, where films are screened on the local beach, combining seaside relaxation with unique cultural experiences. The surrounding forests and the nearby Liv Coast offer nature lovers excellent opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and freshwater or sea fishing.
Whether you are drawn by the serene natural beauty, rich traditions, or the inviting local atmosphere, Roja is the perfect destination for those seeking an authentic Latvian coastal retreat, full of history, culture, and warm hospitality.
