Named after its altitude – 1120 meters above sea level – this mountain home is a quiet tribute to everything Montenegro is: wild, elevated, deeply rooted in stone and story.
As Petar II Petrović Njegoš, Montenegro’s greatest poet and philosopher, wrote in The Mountain Wreath:
“Ko na brdu ak i malo stoji, bolje vidi no onaj pod brdom.”
(meaning - even he who stands a little way up the hill sees more than the one below)
That’s what we wish for everyone who stays here — clarity, perspective, and peace.
We thought of many names before choosing this one — each name holding a piece of the house’s spirit and story:
🏔 4mountain – surrounded by four mighty Montenegrin mountains: Bjelasica, Sinjajevina, Buren, and Durmitor
🪨 1966 – the year a 15-year-old boy and his uncle laid the first stone. That boy was my father
🌬 Metaljka – named after the meadow where the house stands. In local speech, "mete" means “to sweep” – and here, the wind never rests, always sweeping across the land
💧 Spring – a source of fresh drinking water hidden in the forest that belongs to the land
So, our home is supplied with natural mountain spring water – clean, rich in minerals, and untreated with chemicals. To ensure steady water pressure, we use a hydrophore pump system.
👣 Dragićevac – named after my father, Dragić, who left this place in my care
This is more than a house. It’s a legacy. A feeling.
A place where time slows down. A place to return to yourself. 🌿
Guests love the location for its unique blend of untouched nature, cultural history, and outdoor adventure. Nestled between two stunning national parks—Biogradska Gora, home to the oldest virgin forest in Europe, and Durmitor, a UNESCO World Heritage site—this area is a paradise for nature lovers and hikers.
You're also close to three magnificent mountains: Bjelasica, Buren, and Sinjajevina, offering breathtaking views, scenic trails, and opportunities for mountain biking and horseback riding.
If you're up for a thrill, the starting point for rafting on the Tara River, one of Europe's last wild rivers, is nearby. From Mojkovac, you can also join guided tours to the Nevidio Canyon, known for its narrow passages and dramatic waterfalls—an unforgettable experience for adventurous travelers.
History enthusiasts will appreciate that this very area was the site of the Battle of Mojkovac, a key episode in World War I. You’ll find local monuments and stories woven into the landscape.
In the town of Mojkovac, guests enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, local restaurants serving traditional Montenegrin food, and warm hospitality. It’s the perfect base for exploring northern Montenegro’s natural and cultural gems.
Tip: Ask locals for homemade rakija or fresh mountain cheese—they’re proud of their traditions and always happy to share!
