Maxime has travelled the world before being enchanted by the beauty of Madagascar and it's peoples. In 2017 he made it his home. He found a lodge that he could rebuild with his heart and soul. He learned Malagasy and befriended the community who has helped this project come to fruition. Maxime is excited to create a place where people can grow and live in the now. It's his hope that people can find a balance of peace in the lodge and excitement in incredible adventures on land and sea. He believes this balance of exploration outwards and inwardly will create a magical space for all who come.

Shambala is a unique heart-crafted lodge sitting on the beach. We offer to you a location of natural and spiritual beauty. It is our hope that we can provide a space of healing and growth balanced with incredible adventures. Those who stay here will have full range of the house with it's places to work and relax, and of course walk 10m into the sea. We will plan together life expanding adventures on land and sea. We will eat healthy food and encourage a spiritual practice. We will play with dogs and the Malagasy children of the village, learning the culture of the local people. Doany-Ankify is the perfect place to go to find yourself and explore your limits. It's in the center of a small Malagasy fisherman's village. We are a vital part of this community and many of the villagers will be curious to meet you. If you can match a little French with them you'll have a friend who will open your eyes to a whole new world. We encourage and facilitate meeting and working with the villagers. They're excited to show you how to fish, how to cook or do traditional crafts in their style. Additionally, we are surrounded by "hiking" paths that are trails used by the villagers for generations. We have the beach that alternates in between feeling entirely private and shared with our joyous neighborhood fishermen. This neighborhood community holds wisdom of living in the present with simple needs and great joy. You won't regret spending some time letting the energy soak in along your memories of a lifetime.
