I love to travel and explore new places--but nothing beats spending time in Borneo. I first came to the island from Scotland over ten years ago and just fell in love with the natural beauty, the diving and of course--the incredible local people. Over the last decade I have worked in the Dive Industry, managing resorts and cheese mongering but all jobs seem to lead me back to Asia--l guess I just feel fortunate to be in such an spectacular location. When I am not diving, I am reading, getting out doors and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to meeting the international community that is linked through Airbnb, so let's get on the road and see some cool stuff!!

This property is a unique 1940's shop house accommodation which combines beautiful original features with modern comfort and design. With stunning wooden floors, original wood walls, and an outdoor open air bathroom, this space is perfect for couples, groups of friends and families. We have designed and renovated this property to our liking and we hope our love for the place and the history and style of the property shine through. This is truly a one of a kind accommodation option in KK. We have 3 different types of rooms- a standard double room with a seperate private bathroom (non-ensuite) & two apartments with a bedroom that has a living room connected by built-in sliding doors with an additional queen-sized fold-down couch. This can be made up on request for up to 2 extra persons. The rooms are situated on the first floor that all have private outdoor open air bathrooms with a refreshing hot water rain-shower. Each room has a small fridge for your convenience. We have a communal area which contains filtered water, kettle, coffee, tea and dining space for your use that you share with your neighbours. Please note there are no cooking facilities however we provide a small oven and utensils for heating and eating food.

The historic location is also called Australia Place, as this was the area where the Australian soldiers camped when they arrived in KK at the end of World War II. Australia Place is located at the base of Signal Hill near the Atkinson Clock Tower and the Walkway to the Overlook of the city. This is one of the few places in KK that is not on the reclaimed land, and the jungle beside it is a lovely home to monkeys, birds and insects. The building dates back to the 1940’s and was originally a print and rubber stamp shop until we transformed it into this unique accommodation. The location is within walking distance of most attractions in KK—so start exploring! Our accommodation is incredibly central and is surrounded by excellent coffee shops, restaurants and bars. Everything in central KK is within easy walking distance from our place. As we are SO centrally located, there is potential for some street noise, and it is also an old building so there is chance of noise from other guests. As a courtesy we ask guests not to be noisy after 10pm.
