When we saw the property for the first time in 2012 we immediately fell in love with the surroundings. The wide open spaces and pastures with cows, sheep and horses, the small river and the nearby lake and the presence of the cozy city of Groningen made us decide to buy the place. The place lies in a nature conservation area, so building was not allowed, but the authorities allowed us to put in luxury safari tents and gypsy wagons. What a good choice! Our first guests loved them and we kept receiving enthusiastic reports ever since.
We are nature loving, hospitable people and we like to do our very best to live up and exceed our guests expectations. We like to spoil them with a big breakfast and Gerdine's signature dish, her lemon curd pie.
Guests love to take a stroll around the 'bergboezem', an area which can be flooded during heavy rainfall, but most of the time it is a great place for hikers, observing the birds. Taking a bicycle or canoe to check out the surroundings is also a great pastime. Step back in time and take a ferry to the car-free island of Schiermonnikoog. If you like cities, visit Groningen, one of the hidden gems of the Netherlands.
