About us...
Atmosphere and beauty
A stay at Sea and the City is a stay with Roos and Rick. In 2017 they came to this beautiful location near the beach and the lovely city of Haarlem. Amsterdam is very nearby as well! The couple instantly fell in love with this beautiful location.
The guest facilities were completely renovated in 2017 and fitted with all modern conveniences. Rick and Roos and their three daughters Pom, Keet and Cato live in the stylish thirties home next to the guest house.
They're both professional airline crew (Rick is a pilot and Roos a stewardess) in their daily lives, so they've both seen a lot of the world.
The idea to build their own guest house was born thanks to their travel experience and time abroad, with atmosphere and beauty taking center stage.
Feet in the sand
You can get to the Bloemendaal beach in ten minutes by car (or by bike). You can also go a little farther to Zandvoort.
Haarlem eat & drink
There's a lot to do near Sea and the City, for young and old. Roos would love to give you some tips. She knows the area of Haarlem and Amsterdam very well and can point you exactly to all the fun and inspiring places to go.
Haarlem shopping
Shopaholics can get anything their heart desires in Haarlem. You can get to the city center in a couple of minutes by bike or by foot. There you'll find nice shops, coffee houses, and various museums, such as the Frans Hals museum and Teylers museum (also fun for children). Recommendations are the Kleine Houtstraat, Schagchelstraat, and Warmoesstraat. These streets follow from the Grote Markt, with the amazing Sint Bavokerk. Here you will find the best shops, such as Foof, Number Nine, Never grow up, ByNouck Olivia&Kate, Ottomania, The James, Sissy Boy, Bij Saar Thuis. In the Grote Houtstraat you can find the awesome shop Jansje, where you can also go for a delicious lunch.
An enjoyable market is held on the Grote Markt, which takes place every Monday and Saturday. Another nice little market with regional products is the Botermarkt, with market days on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
