Vertskapet på Myrland: Marika & Morten, Ståle & Zaklina
Myrland lies midway between Oslo and Bergen on road FV 50, at the eastern gateway to the Hallingskarvet massif. When summer melts the snow, waymarked paths radiate from your door.
A rewarding full-day hike climbs through Folarskaret pass to Lordehytta, a remote stone shelter built in 1880. A shorter but energetic forest trail reaches the twin drops of Hivjufossen; expect roots, rocks and some steep sections. Myrland also is the perfect base for the dramatic Aurlandsdalen trek.
Storåne, the cold clear river just below the apartments, invites quick swims and wild-trout fishing. On the far bank lies Gurostølen, a working summer farm where you can taste local cheese and dairy products.
For quieter hours there is a nearby recreation area alongside the river with a timber lean-to shelter (gapahuk), benches and designated fireplaces for grilling on long Nordic evenings.
Geilo’s shops and cafés are forty minutes away and the fjord village of Flåm about seventy-five minutes to the west, yet Myrland itself stays peaceful, with blue skies, clean air and direct trail access.
